Hello, my name is Ms. Melissa, and I am one of the co-teachers in the Pre-K room. I graduated from SRU with an Elementary/Early Childhood Education degree. I have experience with all age groups, but preschool/pre-k is my favorite. My goal for my classroom is to pass on the passion of learning I have onto my class. I bring a lot of creativity to my classroom. In the upcoming year, we will be stretching our imaginations and exploring new ideas. I am looking forward to a wonderful year.
Hello, my name is Ms. Nicole, and I am one of the co-teachers in the Pre-K room. I graduated from BC3 with my degree in Child Development. My goal is to help each child challenge themselves and grow. Getting to know your child on a personal level will allow them to feel more comfortable in their environment. Learning through hands-on experiments and projects allows children to independently discover new concepts. I want your child to be fully prepared for the skills they need for Kindergarten. I look forward to meeting all of you and creating masterpieces with each child in their own special way!

Meals: Please no milk cups in the morning; they often get forgotten about once the child starts playing. No additional food for breakfast or snack due to allergies.
Home toys: Do not let your child bring in any home toys, as stated in the parent handbook. They often get lost and are a distraction to learning for your child and others. Jewelry and watches are also included as a home toy. They are a distraction and can get stuck on the child’s fingers/arms/neck and break very easily.
· Naps: We are requesting NO full-size pillows; they are hard for the children to put away by themself. Happy Nappers and sleeping bags are not acceptable sleep bedding according to the state.
. Brightwheel: We are very busy in Pre-K and do not always have a chance to get on Brightwheel. We will answer ALL Bright Wheel messages between 1-3pm. Only if there is an emergency will we message outside of the designated time frame. Remember, no news is good news!
· Volunteers: The kids love being read to, having special presentations, and having a parent run one of the activities for a morning. If you wish to join our class for the day, please reach out!
PHONEMIC AWARENESS
Heggerty
Pre-K strives to have their students prepared for Kindergarten. They use a program called Heggerty to put their students at the top of the class. Heggerty is a phonemic awareness program where it focuses on teaching the sounds of all the letters in the alphabet. By focusing on the sounds of the letters, coincide letter recognition, students will have an easier time learning to read and spelling words.
